AIG Hospitals, based in Hyderabad, plans to invest 200 billion rupees over the next five years to establish a new type of 1000-bed multi-specialty hospital in Endada, Visakhapatnam.
This project, which will be implemented in two phases, is projected to create approximately 9000 jobs. The project's foundation was laid on Monday by Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Naray Lokesh together with AIG Hospitals Chairman D. Nageswar Reddy.
Project Statements
Lokesh stated that the AIG Hospitals project, valued at 200 billion rupees, represents a significant investment in the healthcare sector of Visakhapatnam and will create around 9000 jobs. He added that this enterprise will not only provide world-class medical care but also strengthen Visakhapatnam's status as a major medical hub, opening new opportunities for doctors, nurses, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals. Lokesh welcomed AIG Hospitals to Visakhapatnam and expressed hope for the company's contribution to the city's development.
The hospital will be constructed in two phases. The first phase, comprising 650 beds, is scheduled to begin operations by October 2028. The second phase will increase the total capacity to 1000 beds, adding another 350 beds.
The project is expected to provide employment at various levels—clinical, technical, administrative, and support. At full capacity, AIG Hospitals anticipates employing about 9000 people, with 1000 doctors working in the institution.
The hospital campus, spanning nine acres, will include not only the medical complex but also a nursing college, a paramedic training center, a research laboratory, an artificial intelligence center, and an academic block, forming an integrated ecosystem of healthcare, education, and research.
The facility will offer over 50 types of medical and surgical care, equipped with advanced capabilities such as modular operating theaters, catheterization labs, endoscopic suites, 150 intensive care unit beds, and a 50-bed emergency department. The outpatient block is designed to handle approximately 5000 consultations daily.
AIG Hospitals Vice-Chairman P. V. S. Raju noted that the scale of the project will generate jobs at multiple levels, and the nursing college and paramedic training center will create a continuous stream of trained specialists for the region.
The foundation stone laying ceremony was attended by AP Assembly Speaker Chintakaya Ayyanappatrudu, Visakhapatnam MLA Muthukumilli Bharat, Assembly Member Bheemili Ganta Srinivas Rao, as well as senior officials from AIG Hospitals and local authorities.
