Kamilla Rakhimova from Uzbekistan managed to advance to the second round of the US Open tournament after defeating Czech tennis player Barbora Krechikova in the first round match.
The first set was very tense and ended in a tie-break, which Rakhimova won with a score of 7-4 to gain an advantage. In the second set, the Uzbek athlete took control of the game and won with a score of 6-2. The total duration of the match was 1 hour and 53 minutes.
This match marked Rakhimova's first victory over Krechikova in their two encounters within the WTA. Furthermore, this victory signified her third consecutive appearance in the second round of a Grand Slam tournament.
In the second round, Rakhimova will face the winner of the match between Japanese Aoi Ito and Spanish Oxana Selekhmeteva; this match is scheduled for August 31.
Another Uzbek athlete, Maria Timofeeva, will also continue her participation in the tournament on Monday, August 31, where she is scheduled to play against Tamara Zidanšek from Slovenia in the second round.
