Uzbekistan begins pilot testing of digital labels for vegetable oils

Uzbekistan has started pilot testing the digital marking system for vegetable oils as part of the expansion of the national product digital marking system. According to the television company O‘zbekiston 24, this trial allows companies to prepare the necessary software and hardware in advance, as well as train personnel before the introduction of new regulations.

Balton Trading, a company that imports vegetable oils, is participating in this pilot project. In this company, the digital marking process is integrated into the entire product processing chain: from receiving incoming batches and storage to subsequent shipment to clients.

Mansur Yuldashev, Supply Chain Director at Balton Trading, noted that participation in the project allows the company to familiarize itself with new procedures and prepare employees to work with marked products before the requirements become mandatory.

The process begins even before the goods arrive at the warehouse. Specialists receive marking codes from the system operator, print them, and apply them to each unit of goods. Then, group codes are generated, followed by aggregation at the pallet level, and information about the group packaging codes contained on the pallet is recorded.

Kirill Repetiy, a marking specialist at Balton Trading, stated that implementing this system in the future will help the company reduce time and other resources spent on handling marked goods.

More than one hundred employees have been trained as part of the pilot project. They practice receiving marked batches, checking codes, preparing necessary documentation, and packing products for shipment.

Participation in the pilot also gives companies the opportunity to test the full cycle of digital marking, select suitable technical solutions, receive consulting support, and identify organizational and technical problems in advance.

Special attention is paid to customs clearance of imported products during the pilot. Jasur Kayumov, Project Manager at the digital marking system operator, reported that starting July 1, 2026, when digital marking of vegetable oils becomes mandatory, importers will have to provide marking codes during customs clearance. However, the television report mentioned a deadline of December 31, 2026.

Thus, companies participating in the pilot are checking not only the application of codes and internal accounting of marked products but also the procedures related to import. After the introduction of marking, each individual unit of goods will have its digital identification, and companies will develop an established process for handling goods at all stages of their movement.
