Mini has launched the JCW GP Inspired model in the Brazilian market, a special edition limited to only twenty units, with a suggested price set at R$ 389,990. This vehicle is based on the John Cooper Works hatchback, but its modifications are strictly aesthetic, focusing on paint, graphics, and some trim accessories, without offering increased power.
The new model is already available at the manufacturer's dealerships across the country and debuted publicly at the Interlagos Festival. According to the manufacturer itself, this series was conceived to meet customers looking for a more expressive combination of sportiness and exclusive character within the John Cooper Works line.
The body of this model is presented in Legend Grey, complemented by Chili Red accents applied to the roof, mirror caps, wheels, and wheel arches. The side of the car features the GP Inspired decal, while the C-pillar has graphics that replicate the layout of famous global motorsport circuits.
The equipment package includes a JCW rear spoiler, a sports exhaust system, and 18-inch JCW Lap Spoke alloy wheels with a diamond finish. Inside, the distinctions are limited to specific door sills and an exclusive key cover; the rest maintains the standard of the sports line, characterized by sports seats and black upholstery with red details.
Under the hood, the vehicle is equipped with the 2.0 TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine, which generates 231 hp and 38.7 kgfm. It is coupled with a dual-clutch automatic sports transmission that features paddle shifters on the steering wheel. The traction used is front-wheel drive. The performance data released by MINI is identical to that of the standard hatchback: 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 6.1 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h.
It is important to note that, despite the name, this series should not be confused with the John Cooper Works GP, which represents a lineage of highly radical versions started in 2006. The most recent version, dated 2020, achieved 306 hp and 45.9 kgfm, and was designed with the removal of rear seats aiming for weight saving, reaching 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds. Globally, 3,000 units of this model were produced, of which 25 were destined for Brazil, sold for R$ 299,990.
Compared to the current GP Inspired, the latter costs approximately R$ 34 thousand more than the standard John Cooper Works hatchback, whose listed price is R$ 355,990. This price difference is justified by the aesthetic package and limited production, given that no mechanical changes were announced by the brand.
