Works by masters from Uzbekistan are being displayed at the international exhibition Homo Faber 2026, titled 'Island of Light,' in Venice. This exhibition is dedicated to contemporary artistic craftsmanship and gathers participants from 70 countries, showcasing over 700 pieces, according to the statement from the Fund for the Development of Art and Culture of Uzbekistan.
The Uzbek section of the exhibition includes ceramic moon jugs by Sanjar Kubayev and Alisher Nazirov, as well as artistic scissors by Shavkiddin Kamolov.
Uzbekistan is also represented in the exhibition's educational program. Dierbek Abdullaev and Sabina Jurayeva participate in Homo Faber 2026 as mediators within the Young Ambassadors program.
The participation of Uzbek masters supports the cooperation between the Fund for the Development of Art and Culture of Uzbekistan and the Michelangelo Foundation. This partnership began in 2023 with the launch of the Uzbek section of the Homo Faber Guide in Bukhara.
As part of Uzbekistan's program at the exhibition, Madina Kasymbaeva will conduct master classes dedicated to traditional Suzani embroidery.
Overall, this year Homo Faber brings together over 500 masters from 70 countries and showcases more than 700 works of contemporary artistic craftsmanship.
