Paleoanthropologists conducted a re-analysis of teeth found in the mid-last century, as well as a jaw fragment discovered in the French cave of Le Rues. These remains were extracted from the Aurignacian layer.
During the new study, scientists concluded that this find belongs to a person of modern anatomical type, which refutes previous assumptions about the remains belonging to Neanderthals. The results of this analysis were presented in an article published in the American Journal of Biological Anthropology.
