The food delivery platform Zomato has adopted a strict stance regarding analog dairy products. The company announced the implementation of a zero-tolerance policy for restaurants selling such items on its platform.
According to the company's information, dishes from partner restaurants that indicated the use of analog dairy products were immediately removed from the platform. Restaurants are now required to switch to using natural dairy products and exclude analogs.
Partners who do not agree with these requirements will be excluded from Zomato.
Analog dairy products are items that imitate the taste of milk products, but instead of real milk, they use oil and starch. Although this does not mean that every such product is toxic or fake, a problem arises when consumers are served dishes resembling milk or yogurt made from analogs, without receiving any information about whether these products are real or imitation.
Such products are often used in sandwiches, sweets, and other off-site dishes, such as cheese, cream, or butter. If customers are unaware of the ingredients, it becomes difficult to understand what exactly they are consuming. This is precisely why Zomato has taken a firm stance on analog dairy products.
A few days ago, analog cheese was banned. Previously, a ban on analog cheese was introduced in the states of Maharashtra and Karnataka. The accusation was that some sellers supplied this cheese to people without disclosing whether it was real or fake. A ban on analog cheese is soon planned to be introduced in many other states of the country.
