The Uzbekistan national judo team concluded its participation in the 'Katta Dubulga' tournament held in Lausanne, Switzerland, winning five medals. This was reported by the press service of the National Olympic Committee.
On the final day of the competition, Uzbek judokas competed in heavy weight categories and secured one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal.
In the -90 kg weight category, two representatives from Uzbekistan advanced to the final—Umar Bozorov and Nurbek Murtazoyev. In the decisive match, Bozorov won and became the gold medalist of the 'Katta Dubulga' tournament. Murtazoyev won the silver medal.
Before the final, Bozorov defeated Lasse Schriver from Germany, Mansur Lorsanov from Russia, Ivaylo Ivanov from Bulgaria, and Adam Kopetsky from the Czech Republic. Murtazoyev, meanwhile, defeated Akaki Japaridze from Georgia, Simon Gautsch from Switzerland, Rafael Macedo from Brazil, and Egor Andoni from Russia.
In the -100 kg weight category, Ernazar Sarsenbayev won the bronze medal. He first defeated Kazakhstani Marat Baikamurov and Brazilian Leonardo Gonçalves to reach the semi-finals. In the bronze medal match, Sarsenbayev defeated Japanese Tetsu Hamadu, giving a chance to Dutch Simeon Katarina.
Earlier, Arslonbek Tozhiev won a silver medal in the -81 kg weight class, and Samariddin Qoʻchqorov won a bronze medal in the -60 kg weight class.
Thus, the Uzbekistan national team finished the 'Katta Dubulga' tournament in Lausanne with one gold, two silver, and two bronze medals, ranking sixth overall. Russia took first place, followed by teams from Japan and Germany.
The competition, which took place from August 28 to 30, involved 513 judokas from 77 countries.
