The Finance Minister announced additional details regarding the defense industry, UzQR payments, the Aral Sea, and other sectors following his visit to India.
The Indian government website published the results of the visit, including signed memoranda, agreements, and individual statements.
In particular, it was stated at a joint press conference that direct interaction between defense industry enterprises of the two countries, as well as joint production and joint projects, would be encouraged.
As part of the visit's outcomes, a commercial agreement concerning payment systems was also concluded. It is required that the ability to scan the national QR code UZQR in Uzbekistan and pay through India's UPI applications between 'NPCI International Payments Limited' and the National Bank Processing Center of Uzbekistan be ensured.
Furthermore, it was announced that India would allocate a grant of 1 million US dollars for the reclamation and ecological rehabilitation of the Aral Sea, which would include technical assistance.
The parties agreed to establish a joint working group to eliminate non-tariff barriers and investment obstacles, and to consider further steps regarding a preferential trade agreement between Uzbekistan and India within the established timeframe.
Additionally, it was announced that 100 scholarships would be allocated for studying Hindi in Uzbekistan in the name of Lal Bahadur Shastri, as well as the creation of a Sanskrit department at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies by ICCR.
The Ministry of Finance also highly praised the progress made in forming an agreement on the long-term supply of uranium from Uzbekistan to India.
