Previously, the German team had become champions in Kuala Lumpur (2002), Munich-Gladbach (2006), and Bhubaneswar (2023). Meanwhile, Pakistan won the trophy in 1971, 1978, 1982, and 1994.
The decision for the winner was decided by only one goal, but it was Germany's defense that allowed them to become champions, successfully repelling Spanish attacks. In the bronze medal match, Argentina defeated the Netherlands 2-1. Thomas Domene opened the scoring with a penalty corner goal in the 41st minute. The Netherlands equalized with a goal from Floris Mendendorp in the 49th minute, but Argentina's captain Matias Re scored the decisive goal from a penalty corner in the 59th minute. Despite the Netherlands receiving three consecutive penalty corners in the final seconds, they could not equalize. Previously, Argentina had beaten the three-time champion Netherlands in the women's division.
