The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has introduced a mandatory requirement for the use of Automated and Intelligent Machine Construction (AI-MC) for all highway projects exceeding 20 kilometers in length and valued at 500 crore rupees.
This step is taken as part of measures aimed at resolving quality issues that have become a serious concern for the government.
According to one official, this change will positively affect both contractors and stakeholders. Since the contractor will receive real-time data, the opportunities for subcontractors to reduce work quality will be minimal.
