The leader stated that this process will begin 'soon' and will be considered a 'gift from Venezuela to the people of the United States.'
This declaration comes at a time when the United States maintains involvement in the conflict with Iran, which contributed to the emptying of the Strategic Reserve, which is currently at 41% of its capacity, the lowest level recorded in four decades.
On Friday, Trump announced that the country would take control of 65 billion barrels of the South American country's oil reserves, which corresponds to a quarter of the total, characterizing it as the 'largest oil deal in world history.'
Venezuela holds one of the largest global oil reserves, estimated at 303 billion barrels of crude oil, equivalent to approximately 17% of the world's supply, according to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
