Two projects submitted from Uzbekistan were selected to receive funding under the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Actions (JMA) competition for 2026. According to Erasmus+, the winning projects were those submitted by the Karakalpak State University and Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT).
Karakalpak State University will receive support to implement a project in the Jean Monnet Module format, while WIUT will be implementing a Jean Monnet Chair project.
In total, 156 applications were submitted from Uzbekistan for this competition. Two projects were chosen: one Jean Monnet Module and one Jean Monnet Chair. Across the entire Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Actions 2026 competition, 2223 applications were registered, of which 327 projects were recommended for funding, representing a success rate of 15%.
Of the selected projects, 147, or 45% of all initiatives that will receive funding, will be implemented in countries that are not participants in the Erasmus+ program.
The goal of Jean Monnet Actions is to develop academic and research potential in the field of European Union studies. The program also aims to strengthen dialogue between the scientific community, government representatives, and society.
For Uzbekistan, the results of this competition mean receiving support for two educational projects that will be carried out by Karakalpak State University and WIUT. This funding will allow the universities to conduct initiatives in accordance with the relevant Jean Monnet Actions.
