Uzbekistan's services market reached 802.5 trillion soums by mid-2026

According to data from the National Statistical Committee of Uzbekistan, the volume of market services provided in the country reached 802,461.9 billion soums at current prices for the period from January to July 2026. This represents a real growth of 16.7% compared to the same period last year.

Preliminary data shows that in January-July 2025, the service volume was 651,676.9 billion soums, which is 13.5% more than in the same period of 2024. The main driver of growth this year was trade services, which increased by 15.2% and contributed 3.9 percentage points.

Other sectors contributing to the growth include financial services (growth of 24.5% and contribution of 3.6 pp.), accommodation and catering services (growth of 15% and contribution of 2.8 pp.), and transport services, which grew by 14.3% and added 2.3 percentage points.

Service Distribution by Region

In January-July 2026, Tashkent accounted for 41.4% of the total national market services volume, amounting to 332,240.5 billion soums with a real growth rate of 117.4%. Among the regions, Samarkand region recorded the largest service volume (56,487.5 billion soums, or 7% of the national total), Tashkent region (53,785.5 billion soums, or 6.7%), and Fergana region (52,295.3 billion soums, or 6.5%).

Excluding the capital, the highest real growth rates were observed in Syrdarya region (118.7%) and Navoi region (118.5%).

Services per Capita Level

The average volume of market services per capita across the country was 20,909.4 thousand soums, higher than the figure of 17,285.2 thousand soums the previous year, demonstrating a real growth of 114.6%. Tashkent showed the highest per capita indicator—103,981.1 thousand soums, exceeding the level for January-July 2025 by 18,737.7 thousand soums. The lowest indicator was registered in Surkhandarya region, which amounted to 8,267.1 thousand soums.

Small Business Contribution

Small businesses provided 451,972.6 billion soums in market services during the reporting period, accounting for 56.3% of the total volume, with a real growth of 117.9%. The largest share of small businesses in the services sector was recorded in Fergana region (76.2%) and Andijan region (74.9%). In Tashkent, despite a relatively low share of small businesses (41.9%), this sector provided the largest volume of services in the country—139,236.5 billion soums.

Market Services Structure

In terms of economic activity, the structure of market services is distributed as follows: trade services account for 25.2%, followed by accommodation and catering services (18.7%), financial services (15.7%), transport services (15.1%), communication and information technology services (7.7%), and educational services (3.4%).

Trade services grew by 35,065.9 billion soums at current prices in January-July 2026, reaching 202,007.3 billion soums. Retail trade accounted for the largest share in this category—41.4%. Accommodation and catering services increased by 29,478.2 billion soums, reaching 149,719.2 billion soums, with 96.6% of this volume generated by public catering services.

The volume of transport services reached 121,451.6 billion soums, with road transport making up 52.4% of this amount, or 63,691.9 billion soums. Financial services increased by 30,596.1 billion soums, reaching 125,805.6 billion soums, with a growth rate of 124.5%. Communication and information technology services reached 61,647 billion soums, where computer programming accounted for the largest share—48.5%. Educational services amounted to 27,241.3 billion soums, with higher education providing 41.2% of this volume. Medical services reached 13,865.1 billion soums.

The National Statistical Committee clarified that the presented data are preliminary and may be adjusted in subsequent publications. Furthermore, starting from data for January-March 2026, the methodology for calculating the volume of trade services was changed in accordance with the recommendations of international experts to account for changes in inventories of goods intended for resale.

According to data from the National Statistical Committee, the volume of postal and courier services in Uzbekistan for the period from January to June 2026 amounted to 4.2 trillion soms. This figure demonstrates an increase of 18.2% compared to the same period last year.

Distribution of service volume by region

Tashkent accounted for the largest share of the total volume, with 2.3 trillion soms recorded there. The Samarkand region ranked second, providing 462.2 billion soms in services.

Following in terms of service volume were Fergana region with a figure of 300.6 billion soms, Tashkent region with 289.9 billion soms, and Kashkadarya region with 260.4 billion soms. Services in Andijan region reached 167.3 billion soms, while Namangan region registered 112.1 billion soms.

Other regions also contributed: Khorezm region collected 55.8 billion soms, and Sokh region—54.3 billion soms. Bukhara region registered 49.6 billion soms, and Karakalpakstan Republic—44.4 billion soms.

During the reporting period, figures for Syrdarya region (37.8 billion soms), Navoi region (33.5 billion soms), and Jizzakh region (32.3 billion soms) were also noted.

More than half of the total volume of postal and courier services for the first six months of the year was concentrated specifically in the capital, Tashkent, while the combined figures of the other regions were significantly smaller.

According to data from the National Statistical Committee, the share of information and communication technology (ICT) services in Uzbekistan's gross domestic product was 2.9% for the period from January to June 2026. This figure is higher than the previous year, when it stood at 2.8%.

The agency also reported that in the same period in 2024, the share of ICT services in the GDP was at 2.4%, demonstrating a growth of 0.5 percentage points over two years.

The total added value generated in the ICT sector in the first six months of 2026 reached 30.3 trillion soms. Computer programming, consulting, and related services accounted for the largest share of the ICT gross added value structure, making up 53.6%.

Communication services provided 28.9% of the sector's total added value, while data hosting and processing services, as well as web portal activities, accounted for 10.5%. Furthermore, software accounted for 4.4%, and computer and communication equipment repair accounted for 2.6%.

Thus, in January-June 2026, computer programming, consulting, and related services contributed the most to the ICT gross added value in Uzbekistan, followed by communication services.

Loans to small businesses in Uzbekistan increased by 19% to 90.3 trillion soms

The Central Bank of Uzbekistan reported that the volume of loans issued to micro-, small, and medium-sized enterprises in Uzbekistan reached 90.3 trillion soms for the period from January to July 2026. This figure demonstrates a 19% increase compared to the same period last year, when the amount was 75.9 trillion soms.

Of the total amount, 22.5 trillion soms was provided under special entrepreneurship programs, representing an increase of 27% compared to 17.6 trillion soms a year earlier. Thus, lending through these special programs grew faster than overall small business lending.

According to the regulator's calculations, loans based on these programs accounted for 24.9% of the total financing for micro-, small, and medium-sized enterprises, which is slightly higher than the 23.3% recorded for the same period in 2025. These figures indicate the growing significance of targeted programs in the structure of small business financing amid overall credit growth.

The largest growth in small business lending was recorded in Navoi region, where the issuance of funds increased from 2.46 trillion to 3.75 trillion soms, exceeding a 50% growth. Significant growth was also noted in Bukhara, Namangan, and Fergana regions, with increases of 34%, 32%, and 31% respectively.

At the same time, Sir Darya region saw a 3% decrease in small business lending, and Jizzakh region saw a 2% decrease.

In terms of absolute volume, Tashkent led, where 23.2 trillion soms was issued during the reporting period.

Among banks, Business-Rivojlanish Bank showed the most noticeable growth, where the loan volume almost doubled. Collectively, a group of small banks increased loan issuance by 68%. However, lending to small businesses decreased in several large banks. For example, Sanoatqurilishbank's volume fell more than twofold, and the National Bank experienced a decline of almost 19%. Agrobank demonstrated a smaller reduction.
