Oman has reported on the completion status of the new road project in Musandam, which is approximately 76 percent complete. This project, named Sultan Faisal bin Turki Road, is planned along the Dibba-Lima-Hasaab route and is valued at 151 million Omani rials, according to data from the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.
The total length of the new road will be 72 kilometers and will consist of three separate sections. The first segment connects the Hasaab Wilayat with the Lima district and is 20 kilometers long. The second segment runs within Lima and is 8 kilometers long, while the third section links Lima with the Dibba Wilayat and is 44 kilometers long.
It is expected that the journey between Hasaab and Dibba will take approximately 55 minutes, whereas the trip between Lima and Hasaab is projected to take around 20 minutes. This is significantly less than the previous travel time, which was about two and a half hours.
The new road link is intended to improve transport movement and enhance connectivity between the regions of Musandam. Furthermore, it aims to stimulate investment and develop opportunities in the served communities.
In this regard, Oman recently introduced a 14-day free tourist visa as part of amendments to the executive regulations of the Foreign Residence Law in the Sultanate. This decision was published in the official state gazette of the Gulf nation on August 2, 2026.
According to this decree, competent authorities will issue the new visa upon application by citizens of certain countries. Visitors who receive this type of visa can extend their stay by applying for any other tourist visa before the expiration of the free entry visa, provided applicable conditions and fees are met.
