The head of the Iranian Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) characterized the visit of the Pakistani delegation to Iran, whose goal was a bilateral meeting and discussion of the conclusions of the Tenth Joint Trade Committee, as the beginning of a brilliant era in the development of economic and trade cooperation between the two states. He emphasized the importance of a long-term approach to relations between Tehran and Islamabad.
According to the TPO Public Relations Department, a bilateral meeting took place with representatives of Pakistan's Ministry of Maritime Affairs at the Tehran Permanent International Exhibition Hall. Mohammad Ali Dehghan Dehnavi, head of the Trade Promotion Organization, along with TPO deputies and managers, participated in the meeting, as did Shahid Ahmed, Chairman of the Karachi Port Trust, and several high-ranking representatives of Pakistan's Ministry of Maritime Affairs.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dehghan Dehnavi focused on the need to form a long-term plan for trade between Iran and Pakistan. He stated that the meeting should go beyond technical and short-term issues, covering all aspects with a long-term perspective, taking into account the ten billion dollar target agreed upon by the leaders of the two countries.
The head of the TPO particularly noted the importance of developing shipping lines and land transport between the countries. He pointed out that previously goods from Pakistan were delivered to Iran through third countries, and within the long-term vision, direct routes between them should be established and strengthened.
Dehghan Dehnavi spoke about Iran's readiness to diversify its foreign trade routes and actively utilize Pakistan's potential. He specified that achieving this goal requires developing cooperation in port infrastructure and transport.
He also mentioned the significant volume of Iran's trade with East Asia, especially China, and noted that Pakistan's port capacities and transport routes could be used to transfer part of these goods to Iran by sea and land.
The head of the TPO announced the Trade Promotion Organization's readiness to conclude agreements and negotiate with the Pakistani side, adding that they strive to create sustainable and long-term trade relations between the two countries.
In conclusion, he recalled that the conclusions of the Tenth Joint Trade Committee, held in Islamabad with the participation of the Minister of Industry, Mining, and Trade, could pave the way for the development of trade cooperation.
During the meeting, Shahid Ahmed, head of the Pakistani delegation and Chairman of the Karachi Port Trust, stressed the need to strengthen interaction between the two countries in the field of maritime and transport trade. He stated that the Pakistani side is ready to cooperate with Iran to facilitate and expand trade turnover.
It is worth noting that representatives of the Iranian private sector also presented their views and proposals on developing and facilitating trade and economic cooperation between the two states during this meeting.
