The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) conducted the NEET PG exam nationwide on August 30. A total of 1111 examination centers were set up across 339 cities in all 36 states and territories. Out of a total of 273,096 registered doctors, 265,980 candidates participated in the exam.
Two hundred sixty-three thousand students successfully passed the exam. However, in two centers in Jaipur, Rajasthan, students faced issues due to technical failures, leading to the announcement of a retest.
NBEMS implemented strict measures to prevent leakage of examination materials and cheating. The transparency of the process was ensured through direct video monitoring via CCTV, command centers, and biometric verification based on Aadhaar. Nevertheless, in the two Jaipur centers, the problems arose not from such incidents, but exclusively from technical malfunctions.
Sixteen regional command centers were established to monitor the exam across the country. All 1111 centers were under 24-hour video surveillance from the headquarters in Delhi. Teams from the Ministry of Health, BEL, ECIL, and TCS participated in ensuring the process.
Additionally, independent examiners were involved in conducting the exam at various centers. More than 700 staff members, including deans, directors, and senior professors of medical colleges, were appointed as flying squads.
The re-examination for those centers in Jaipur where the testing was interrupted is scheduled for September 5th at 3:00 PM.
