The NEET-PG 2026 exam, held in Sitapura, Jaipur, on Sunday, turned into a nightmare for medical students. The three-hour computer test, scheduled from 9 am to 12 pm, was marred by constant technical malfunctions and power supply issues.
Students claim that power outages occurred every 10-15 minutes, negatively affecting the operation of computer systems, and many candidates were unable to complete the exam properly.
Dr. Gaurav, who participated in the test, reported that the exam started and stopped ten times over two hours. He noted the absence of any responsible party capable of explaining the chaotic situation experienced by students in the halls. Nevertheless, the exam was cancelled, and new dates have been set.
Following the information, the police also arrived at the scene. ACP Lalit Sharma stated that the center's server was functioning incorrectly. He clarified that while some candidates' computers opened, others' did not, leading to the failure of the test administration.
Furthermore, students raised concerns regarding basic conditions at the center. Complaints were made about insufficient cooling in the examination halls, as well as the lack of air conditioners, fans, or coolers in several places. Candidates also expressed dissatisfaction with the absence of basic amenities such as drinking water.
When the three-hour limit expired and students could not finish the test, protests erupted outside the center. Some held placards demanding justice, while others were worried about the loss of years of effort. Parents accompanying the children appeared distressed, their anxiety and tears evident.
Meanwhile, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) announced a re-examination for affected candidates. The retake will take place on September 5th at iON Digital Zone iDZ centers numbered 41, 682, and 41, 683, located in Sitapura, Jaipur. NBEMS apologized for the inconvenience, explaining that the exam could not be completed due to 'internal power supply issues' at these centers.
However, student dissatisfaction has not subsided. They insist that the exam should be postponed in all centers, not just one or two. Their argument is that in an exam like NEET-PG, every mark is critical for ranking. A serious question arises about how to ensure equality among candidates taking the test under different conditions.
Students argue that it is not their fault, so why should they bear the losses? Their demands now include not just a retest, but a fair examination, transparent verification, and equal opportunities. The NEET-PG exam has become not only a race for medical seats but also a question about the reliability of the testing system itself.
