A series of rapidly moving landslides, caused by the collapse of a high-altitude glacier on the Nepali side, has led to numerous casualties and missing persons in a port located along the border between China and Nepal, in the Sichuan autonomous region of southwestern China.
Chinese Fengyun satellites captured images of these areas last Saturday. The images were obtained between 09:00 and 14:00 Beijing time.
A video circulating on social media captured the moment when passengers on a Chinese subway were surrounded by eels, whom they initially mistook for snakes. The incident occurred in Nanjing, Jiangsu province.
This happened on August 17th when a bucket transporting the animals was overturned. The video shows passengers surprised by the live creatures. According to Chinese media, some people stepped away in fear, believing them to be snakes.
One social media user who shared the video wrote: 'I thought they were snakes on the subway.' Another commenter noted: 'Animals are transported with little care.' A third asked: 'Could there be other eels in the carriage?'
Subway representatives assured that none of these animals remained in the transport vehicle. According to explanations from the officials of the Nanjing metro, the transportation of such animals in carriages is not completely prohibited. However, for transportation to take place, the animals must be properly packaged to prevent escapes, safety incidents, or contamination of the space.
