CJP founder Abhijit Dipke visited a government school in Aunda on Saturday, which is located in his native Hingoli constituency. He conducted this visit as part of the 'School Thik Karo Abhiyan' (Fix the School Campaign). During the inspection, he reported the presence of expired food products intended for students. Furthermore, he raised concerns about a malfunctioning water filter at the school and a shortage of water in the school toilets.
Dipke showed media packets of spices and asserted that these products had expired in February. He noted that students were being fed from packets whose expiration date was February, while it was now September. He questioned whether ministers' children would also be fed from the same packets.
He emphasized that the students come from poor families, which necessitates giving them expired food. Dipke checked the school's water tank and inspected the water inside it. He also spoke with a local official.
While discussing the situation by phone with the official, Dipke stated that the food packets had been in use for six months. He clarified that although a filter was installed in the school, students were drinking well water due to its malfunction. He also pointed out the lack of water in the toilets. Dipke accused that the students were being treated worse than animals.
He also mentioned that there are only two rooms for 87 students in the school, despite four classrooms being claimed. Abhijit Dipke launched the 'School Thik Karo' campaign on August 15th to draw attention to the lack of basic amenities in rural government schools and to demand accountability from the government.
