The discussion about nepotism in the Bollywood industry has been ongoing for many years. Following the death of Sushant Singh Rajput in 2020, these discussions have become even more intense, as many debut actors face unjustified harassment.
Recently, Arshad Warsi commented on this issue, mentioning the Bharatiya Janata Party member and actress Kangana Ranaut.
In an interview with Filmyagyan, Arshad noted that when he first started his career in this industry, such debates were not taking place. He suggested that Kangana Ranaut initiated these discussions. The actor added that he does not experience problems due to nepotism and highly respects her. He emphasized that the topic was not discussed while he worked in cinema, but it was Kangana who brought up this idea, after which the problem began to gain momentum and everyone started talking about it.
He also stated that despite the existence of nepotism in the industry, it does not personally bother him. His belief is that talent is ultimately what matters, and it determines a person's future path. At the same time, Arshad understands that survival for any celebrity child in the industry is not easy because excessive expectations are placed upon them. He sees this today by observing his own children.
Arshad Warsi shared that people he meets believe his children will be as talented as he is and become good actors like his father. This thought causes him serious concern, as he believes his children's personalities will be very different from his own, and therefore this assertion is untrue.
In Arshad's opinion, the expectations of others from the children of stars are too high, which is unfair to them. Although he acknowledges that celebrity children receive better connections in the industry compared to those coming from outside, making it easier for them to enter cinema, their future path remains as difficult as that of someone without connections.
