South Indian cinema superstar Nagarjuna Akkineni delighted fans with a major surprise for his birthday on August 29. He officially unveiled the first frame of his hundredth film, titled 'King100'. The producers also announced the film's release date—December 24, 2026.
This announcement laid the groundwork for a major clash at the box office. On the same day, the highly anticipated Bollywood movie 'King,' starring Shah Rukh Khan, is set to hit theaters. Thus, during the Christmas holidays of 2026, audiences will witness an intense confrontation between two titans and two major films.
This collision is considered particularly significant because Shah Rukh Khan's 'King' is one of the most discussed and awaited pictures in the Hindi film industry. This action-thriller, directed by Siddharth Anand, features Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role. A key feature of the film is that Shah Rukh will appear on the big screen with his daughter Suhana Khan for the first time. Suhana, who began her acting career with the Netflix series 'The Archies' from Joyi Akhtar, debuts in a full-length theatrical release.
During the filming of 'King100,' the producers maintained confidentiality about the movie; however, the first frame released by Annapurna Studios on Nagarjuna's birthday captivated fans. In this clip, Nagarjuna is presented in a very stylish and fearless persona, giving a good idea of the film. In the shot, Nagarjuna speaks about money, success, and his own identity: 'There are two types of people in this world—those who have money, and those who don't. When I didn't have money, people called me a failure. When I got money, they called me 'King.' But this identity is stronger than money. To keep this identity, I will have to run.'
This film, written and directed by R.A. Karthik, is produced under the aegis of Annapurna Studios. Besides Nagarjuna, information about other major actors appearing in the film has not yet been disclosed. Nevertheless, the team behind the film is very strong. Raja Mahadevan oversees the cinematography, and Satish Kumar N handles production design.
It will now be interesting to see who prevails at the box office when Nagarjuna's 'King100' and Shah Rukh Khan's 'King' are released in theaters on December 24, 2026.
