Social media influencer and actress Ela Di Verma was born a boy and was initially known as Deva to the world. However, she had felt from childhood that she was a girl. The struggle with family and society allowed Deva to openly declare her identity. Thanks to gender reassignment surgery, she became Ela Di Verma.
In a conversation with Siddharth Kanon, she shared the bitter truth about transgender life. Ela noted that her body underwent changes, just like an ordinary girl's: her voice and weight changed. She emphasized, however, that these changes do not affect her worth in any way.
She added that when appearing online, she does so to entertain people. Although she enjoys joking even with a beard, she does not like it. Ela considers it fortunate that she does not have to beg while standing at a red light.
When asked if she feels different from members of the Hijra and Kinnar communities, she answered negatively. She recounted that when she told her parents about her true gender identity, they thought that Hijras in that country either begged or engaged in sex work, which, in her opinion, meant the end of her child's life.
Ela clarified that her parents were frightened when she told them the truth because they were unaware of it. Nevertheless, her parents later understood her and gave her the freedom to do what she wished.
Now, as a woman, Ela is living a good life and has formed a unique personality. She receives full support from both fans and family.
