Uzbekistan Airways has announced its intention to install the first full-scale Level D simulator (FFS) for the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner at its Training Center in Tashkent, the first of its kind in Central Asia. This announcement was made during an event dedicated to the ten-year operation of Dreamliner aircraft.
The acquisition of this simulator is part of a contract between Uzbekistan Airways and Boeing, which includes the delivery of 22 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. The device, manufactured by the Canadian company CAE Inc., will receive Level D certification, corresponding to the highest standard for aviation trainers.
The simulator is capable of accurately reproducing the cockpit, aircraft systems, and flight characteristics, allowing for a complete cycle of pilot training directly within Uzbekistan. The launch of this trainer will make crew preparation more independent and reduce the need to send pilots to foreign training centers.
The airline noted that this step is particularly relevant ahead of the planned expansion of the Dreamliner fleet. Uzbekistan Airways has been operating Boeing 787 aircraft for ten years. The first Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners arrived in September 2016, followed by a second in November of the same year. A third Dreamliner appeared in 2018, two additional aircraft joined the fleet in 2019, and the sixth Boeing 787-8 arrived in Tashkent in May 2021.
In 2025, Uzbekistan Airways signed the largest contract in its history for the supply of 22 wide-body Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, with initial deliveries expected from 2031. The carrier stated that increasing the Dreamliner fleet will allow for increased passenger capacity on long-haul routes, network expansion, and the opening of new intercontinental flights.
