According to information from UzDaily.uz, Uzbekistan plans to reduce the required monthly advance payment for electricity and natural gas consumption to 15 percent for relevant business entities. This change will take effect on November 1, 2026.
New Prepayment Rules
This change was introduced as part of a presidential decree signed by Shavkat Mirziyoyev, aimed at implementing measures discussed during his sixth open dialogue with entrepreneurs.
The revised prepayment rule will apply to commercial enterprises connected to the Automated System of Commercial Accounting for Electricity (ASKUE) and the Automated System of Commercial Accounting for Natural Gas (ASKUG), provided that their measuring instruments have remote disconnection and reconnection capabilities. Furthermore, consumers who have failed to maintain payment discipline for the previous two months will not be eligible to participate in this program.
In addition to lowering the advance payment requirements, the decree abolishes the obligation for companies to provide regional utility suppliers with written reports on electricity and gas consumption.
Moreover, the decree reforms the procedures for concluding utility service contracts, replacing paper agreements for the supply of electricity and gas with electronic contracts.
