The Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan announced an agreement between Uzbekistan and Singapore to begin negotiations on establishing a free trade regime.

The relevant document was signed on August 28, 2026, during the visit of Singapore's Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong to Uzbekistan. The Uzbek Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, participated in the negotiations. The goal of launching these talks is to expand bilateral trade and improve market access for goods between the two countries.
Agreements were also reached with the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise during the ceremony regarding joint work on developing special economic zones, utilizing Singapore's experience in this field.
A separate agreement concerning the food industry was signed with the participation of international corporations Wilmar International and Indorama. This project envisages the creation of facilities for the production and processing of vegetable oil in the Tashkent region, followed by a plan to develop the production of feed for livestock and poultry to form integrated supply chains in agriculture and food production.
The signing of all documents took place on August 28, 2026, as part of the bilateral program of Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong's visit.
