During the 18th season of the show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' (KBC), viewers closely followed the life stories and struggles of participants from various backgrounds. In the latest episode, transgender doctor Prachi Rathore was in the hot seat. She shared with Bachchan her experiences during a period when she had to face numerous problems due to her gender identity.
During the 'Big B' segment, Prachi was asked what support she received during her gender transition journey. Prachi stated that her family supported her in childhood and until she told them about the transition. However, it later became difficult for them to accept these changes.
When 'Big B' asked how her parents reacted when she informed them of her feminine traits, Prachi replied that they could not accept it, especially her mother and father. They declared that they would never accept her. Despite everything they did for her, Prachi emphasized that parenthood is not just biological kinship, and at that moment, she cried. Mahanakhaya's eyes welled up.
Prachi recounted that when she did not receive approval from her family, she was supported by the transgender community from Hyderabad. There are six 'havelis' (mansions) in Hyderabad where the transgender community resides. Prachi considers herself a daughter of the largest of these havelis.
She narrated that the community motivated her to continue her studies, move forward, and fulfill her father's dream. People from the community assured her of their support under any circumstances. After finishing her studies and entering the medical profession, she still had to face serious difficulties in finding a job. She repeatedly sent her resume and went through interviews trying to find work, but her gender identity constantly became an obstacle.
