The interview was conducted by former England captain Michael Errington for Sky Sports. Media reports circulated that the Pakistan Cricket Board was extremely displeased with the interview and filed a complaint with the England and Wales Cricket Board. Rumors even suggested that the Pakistani team might refuse to take the field if the interview was broadcast on television. Despite this threat from the board, the channel aired the interview for 18 minutes.
When asked about the dispute between the two boards, Head Coach Sarfaraz Ahmed clearly distanced himself from the conflict and the team. Sarfaraz stated that he knew nothing about it and that his full attention was solely focused on the upcoming match.
He immediately refuted any talk of a match boycott or refusal to take the field. Sarfaraz emphasized that the players had no knowledge of this dispute, and at the time the interview was shown, the team was simply resting during the lunch break.
