Vivo makes anti-telemarketing feature available for over 31.9 million customers for free

Vivo has started making the Vivo Anti Spam feature available to approximately 31.9 million customers who have prepaid and control plans. With this change, the operator extended access to the technology to its entire consumer base, and the new feature is already active.

The Vivo Anti Spam feature generated debate in the telecommunications sector because some users considered it excessively effective. Its function is to help filter mass calls made by companies that contact people without intent.

Initially, this technology was restricted to postpaid customers. However, the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel), through decision dispatch number 82 of 2026, determined that tools like this, offered by Vivo and other providers, should be available to the 105.1 million mobile customers.

This decision was issued by the Consumer Relations Superintendence and was signed by Cristiana Camarate and Raphael Garcia de Souza. Vivo informed Tecnoblog that this action aims to 'reinforce the commitment to offering products that combine security and quality.'

The company also informed that customers have the option to disable the service by sending an SMS with the word 'desativar' to the number 5050, although Tecnoblog sources indicate that very few customers performed this procedure.

The technology developed internally by Vivo has an advantage over third-party applications or native features of systems like Android or iPhone because it blocks directly at the network level. According to Vivo, several criteria are evaluated for the call to be interrupted before it is even completed, preventing the phone from ringing.

Although there is an expectation that other operators will implement similar services, none of the major telecommunications companies has made a public announcement so far, giving Vivo a relevant competitive advantage.
