German physicists conducted a study demonstrating that the electrical charge water acquires upon contact with dielectric surfaces can contribute to metal corrosion processes.
The experiment established that such charged droplets are capable of completely penetrating the Teflon protective coating applied to copper, thereby significantly accelerating the degradation of the metal beneath this layer.
The results of this scientific work were officially presented and published in the authoritative scientific journal Nature.
