On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the Kot police conducted the 'Pledge of Protection' campaign to strengthen trust between the public and law enforcement officers. The Police Superintendent (SP) visited a senior secondary school for deaf children managed by a center for the development of children with special needs and tied bracelets with approximately 300 such children. Additionally, she gave sweets and gifts to the children.
During the visit, the SP announced a significant initiative: one officer from each police station will now undergo sign language training. The goal of this measure is to ensure that children who cannot hear or speak can easily convey their problems to the police.
The police band will also begin teaching these children to play wind instruments so they can showcase their talent during special events. The school director, Sarveshwari Ranivala, noted that this is the first time since the school's founding in 1975 that a police superintendent has visited the school and celebrated Raksha Bandhan with the children.
As part of the event held at the SP's office, women CLG members, safety defenders, the Kalika patrol unit, female district inspectors, and police station students participated. In various city police stations, about 2700 children and safety defenders were linked with police officers, and leaflets with various police hotline numbers were distributed.
