Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan Development Fund Approves 37 Projects Worth Over $100 Million

The Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan Development Fund has approved thirty-seven projects with a total value exceeding 100 million US dollars across various economic sectors. According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Jenbek Kulubaev, these projects will create approximately 900 new jobs.

The Fund finances initiatives in diverse areas such as the textile industry, energy, logistics, manufacturing, modernization of municipal infrastructure, and public transport. Kulubaev characterized the Fund's activities as a successful model of practical bilateral interaction, which is developing against the backdrop of strengthening common economic ties between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

Since the beginning of 2026, bilateral trade between the two neighboring states has increased by 45 percent, reaching 624.6 million US dollars.

The Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan Development Fund was established based on an intergovernmental agreement signed between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan in Tashkent on March 11, 2021. The agreement entered into force after internal ratification during the same year, with the presidential decree of Uzbekistan ratifying the treaty on November 3, 2021.

The Fund officially began its operations on April 14, 2022, in Bishkek. It was established to finance joint investment enterprises in the fields of industrial production, agriculture, transport, and other priority economic directions.

Key objectives of the Fund include expanding economic cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, supporting the modernization and growth of the Kyrgyz economy, and facilitating more effective utilization of bilateral commercial opportunities. The Fund aims to create favorable conditions for trade, increase overall trade turnover, diversify the trade structure, and promote long-term economic integration.

Financial support is directed towards self-sustaining projects in priority sectors of the Kyrgyz economy. To achieve these goals, the Fund provides commercial loans, equity investments, and other financial instruments to legal entities registered and operating in Kyrgyzstan.
