Renault Kwid receives updated look with Flex Fuel engine and SUV design

Renault has updated its most compact model in the Indian market—the Renault Kwid—releasing it in a new appearance. However, this new version was presented not in the Indian market, but in Brazil.

This release is the second major redesign of the Kwid model that the company has introduced in Brazil. Significant changes have been made to both the exterior and interior design of the updated version. Furthermore, the company has provided no information regarding when or if the 2027 Renault Kwid will be launched in India.

The Kwid model was first introduced to the Brazilian market in 2017, and since then, the company has sold 500,000 units in Brazil. The company has not changed the engine in these new updates; in Brazil, the car is equipped with a Flex Fuel engine.

Externally, the Renault Kwid has received several substantial modifications. The vehicle now features a redesigned bumper with sharp details, and the radiator grille has a glossy black finish. The overall silhouette and body proportions remain unchanged. The car is now available across the lineup with LED daytime running lights and a shark fin antenna.

Updated taillights have also been added, and the company logo integrates a rearview camera. In top trims, the Kwid offers a two-tone roof, new graphic elements, body protective cladding, and 14-inch diamond-cut wheels.

The interior has undergone serious changes. More expensive versions are equipped with a multifunction steering wheel, two USB Type-C ports, a rearview camera, and electrically adjustable side mirrors. The cabin features a 7-inch TFT digital instrument cluster, as well as a 10.1-inch touchscreen multimedia system.

The vehicle's mechanical components have not been altered. The Kwid version compliant with Brazilian specifications is equipped with a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine with Flex Fuel technology. This engine can produce 71 hp and 98 Nm of torque when running on Flex Fuel, and 68 hp and 92 Nm on gasoline.

The car has a five-speed manual transmission. According to Brazilian standards, the declared fuel consumption is 14.4 kilometers per liter in the city and 15.4 kilometers per liter on the highway. The trunk volume reaches 290 liters. The starting price of the car is 71,090 Brazilian Reais (equivalent to approximately 13.19 lakh rupees), while the top trim level reaches 84,890 Brazilian Reais (approximately 15.75 lakh rupees).

If launched in India, the Renault Kwid is expected to compete with the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 and Tata Tiago, which are available in the price segment below 500,000 rupees.

Renault Kwid is preparing for an update with a sportier exterior for the Brazilian market

The Renault Kwid model, previously introduced in India with a price below 500 thousand, is receiving a new update that differs from previous minor changes, which mainly concerned the logo.

The company plans to introduce the updated Renault Kwid in Brazil. A test prototype was recently spotted, revealing significant details about the car's design and interior. Furthermore, renders of the vehicle have appeared on social media.

The front and side profiles of the new Kwid are visible on the test prototype. The front of the car features thin LED daytime running lights (DRL) that can also function as turn signals. The car will receive a new sectional grille element with a glossy finish.

It will be equipped with a heavily redesigned bumper, including an enlarged air intake. New headlights have also been added, and a silver accent is used on the lower part of the bumper. The Renault logo is visible in black, although there is a possibility that the company will release a chrome version with a different color.

The front end looks more filled out, and the company has updated the hood. The side profile remains similar to the current Kwid, and it is expected that the car's dimensions will not change. It will maintain a ground clearance of 184 mm, like the existing model.

The car will feature a shark fin antenna and roof rails, as well as new wheel covers. The rear bumper will be two-toned, and the taillights look sharper. Changes are also expected in the interior of the new Kwid, including a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, although details about it are currently unknown.

The Kwid is Renault's most affordable model. By giving it a crossover appearance, it once captured market share from the Maruti Suzuki Alto. Over time, the car received only minor updates, which reduced its influence.

Currently, this car in India is equipped with a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine. This engine produces 69 hp and 92.5 Nm of torque. A five-speed manual transmission and a five-speed AMT automatic transmission are available. In India, the car is also sold with a CNG retrofit option. Its starting price in India is 4.52 lakh rupees, including all charges.

Maruti Suzuki may introduce a CNG automatic car in the updated Baleno

Maruti Suzuki is preparing to release an updated version of its popular hatchback model. The updated Maruti Baleno is expected to appear early next month. Test models have appeared on the streets multiple times before the official launch, suggesting some changes to the car.

The updated Baleno is expected to be released in the first week of September, specifically on September 5th. Although not very significant changes are expected in the design and interior of the car, a major change concerning the transmission is possible. According to reports, Maruti may do something that only Tata has managed so far.

There is a possibility that the updated Maruti Suzuki Baleno will offer an automatic gearbox combined with CNG. If this happens, Maruti Suzuki will become the second manufacturer to offer this option, alongside Tata. Below is an overview of what new features might appear in this model.

The updated Baleno will feature a redesigned front fascia, equipped with an updated bumper and grille design. Maruti may install a connected LED strip or a chrome structure that divides the grille into two parts. The overall design of the car will remain the same, without any changes.

The new car may also be fitted with 16-inch alloy wheels, and there may be some minor modifications to the rear. The taillight design will remain unchanged. As for the cabin, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno Facelift might feature a new cabin theme. The company may also make changes to the dashboard to give the cabin a fresher look. Like the current Baleno, it will be equipped with HUD, a 360-degree camera, and other functions. Additionally, the updated version may include new features such as ventilated seats, an electric sunroof, a larger multimedia system, wireless phone charging, an improved sound system, and other options.

The car will be equipped with numerous safety systems, including parking sensors, a rear camera, ABS, EBD, ESP, hill-start assist, six airbags, and other safety features. The engine of the car will not change; it will have a 1.2-liter petrol engine that produces 90 hp and 113 Nm of torque. The car will be offered with a 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox.

According to the latest reports, the updated Maruti Suzuki Baleno may feature an automatic gearbox with CNG, which would be a significant step for Maruti. This is especially relevant for those who desire comfortable city driving combined with better fuel economy.
