Renault Kwid receives updated look with Flex Fuel engine and SUV design

The Renault Kwid model, previously introduced in India with a price below 500 thousand, is receiving a new update that differs from previous minor changes, which mainly concerned the logo.

The company plans to introduce the updated Renault Kwid in Brazil. A test prototype was recently spotted, revealing significant details about the car's design and interior. Furthermore, renders of the vehicle have appeared on social media.

The front and side profiles of the new Kwid are visible on the test prototype. The front of the car features thin LED daytime running lights (DRL) that can also function as turn signals. The car will receive a new sectional grille element with a glossy finish.

It will be equipped with a heavily redesigned bumper, including an enlarged air intake. New headlights have also been added, and a silver accent is used on the lower part of the bumper. The Renault logo is visible in black, although there is a possibility that the company will release a chrome version with a different color.

The front end looks more filled out, and the company has updated the hood. The side profile remains similar to the current Kwid, and it is expected that the car's dimensions will not change. It will maintain a ground clearance of 184 mm, like the existing model.

The car will feature a shark fin antenna and roof rails, as well as new wheel covers. The rear bumper will be two-toned, and the taillights look sharper. Changes are also expected in the interior of the new Kwid, including a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, although details about it are currently unknown.

The Kwid is Renault's most affordable model. By giving it a crossover appearance, it once captured market share from the Maruti Suzuki Alto. Over time, the car received only minor updates, which reduced its influence.

Currently, this car in India is equipped with a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine. This engine produces 69 hp and 92.5 Nm of torque. A five-speed manual transmission and a five-speed AMT automatic transmission are available. In India, the car is also sold with a CNG retrofit option. Its starting price in India is 4.52 lakh rupees, including all charges.

Like the current Baleno, it will be equipped with HUD, a 360-degree camera, and other functions. Additionally, the updated version may include new features such as ventilated seats, an electric sunroof, a larger multimedia system, wireless phone charging, an improved sound system, and other options.

The car will be equipped with numerous safety systems, including parking sensors, a rear camera, ABS, EBD, ESP, hill-start assist, six airbags, and other safety features. The engine of the car will not change; it will have a 1.2-liter petrol engine that produces 90 hp and 113 Nm of torque. The car will be offered with a 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox.

According to the latest reports, the updated Maruti Suzuki Baleno may feature an automatic gearbox with CNG, which would be a significant step for Maruti. This is especially relevant for those who desire comfortable city driving combined with better fuel economy.
