Ola Electric has officially launched its new electric scooter, the S1Z, available with a starting price of 79,999 rupees. The company announced that it has opened order acceptance, with deliveries expected to commence in December.
Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of Ola Electric, announced the launch on Friday via the X platform. He stated that the company is setting a new industry standard amid the growth of electrification in India, emphasizing that the product is more than just a 'metallic body with a trendy name.'
The S1Z model is offered in two battery configuration variants. The variant with a 3.1 kWh battery costs 79,999 rupees and provides an IDC range of 179 km. The other option, with a 5.1 kWh battery, will cost 99,999 rupees and has a claimed IDC range of 301 km.
The electric scooter is equipped with Ola Electric's proprietary LFP Bharat series 46 cell. Both variants have a maximum speed of 70 km/h. Aggarwal noted that, contrary to the traditional practice of offering affordable scooters with shorter ranges and fewer technologies, they did the opposite because the company independently developed the cell, motor, vehicle, software, and all critical components, passing this technological advantage to the Indian consumer.
Deliveries for the 5.1 kWh battery version are expected to start only in March 2027. Previously, Ola Electric had released the S1Z at a price starting from 59,999 rupees, and the S1Z+ model was priced at 64,999 rupees.
This launch aims to strengthen Ola Electric's position in the Indian two-wheeler electric transport market. Earlier this month, the company reported a consolidated loss of 336 crore rupees in the first quarter of fiscal year 27, which is a decrease compared to 428 crore rupees the previous year and 500 crore rupees in the previous quarter. Meanwhile, the company's market share increased from 5.1% in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 26 to 8.4% in the first quarter of fiscal year 27, and automotive revenue grew by 72% quarter-over-quarter.
