Representatives of the Agency for the Development of Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry of Uzbekistan and the National Research Institute of Biopharmaceuticals visited South Korea. The purpose of the visit was to study the country's leading research and educational institutions and discuss cooperation in the field of biopharmaceuticals, according to the pharmaceutical development agency.
Overview of Production Facilities and Technologies
During the trip, the Uzbek delegation inspected laboratories compliant with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards at the Korea National Institute of Bioprocessing Research and Training (K-NIBRT). Specialists focused on operational aspects related to CAR-T cell therapy and the development of biopharmaceutical drugs.
The delegates also familiarized themselves with the Biopharma AX laboratory to assess its GMP infrastructure used for producing biotechnological products and monoclonal antibodies.
Education and Scientific Research
A central element of the visit was specialized training and scientific research. The delegation studied the educational base of the Global Center for Bioproduction, which specializes in microbial biopharmaceutical processes. Additionally, they visited the laboratories of Yonsei University Medical College, where equipment used for animal scientific research was examined.
The itinerary included meetings with scientists, professors, and industry leaders to discuss the training of personnel meeting the requirements of the modern pharmaceutical industry, the development of practical skills, and the application of Korean experience in Uzbekistan.
Prospects for Cooperation
Following the meetings, the parties identified priority areas for further interaction. Agreed steps include implementing joint scientific projects, exchange programs for specialists and scientists, and modernizing the human resource training system in the biopharmaceutical sector of Uzbekistan in line with international standards.
