The national carrier Uzbekistan Airways has unveiled details about a new full-flight simulator (FFS) of the Boeing 787-9 model. This complex will be installed at the airline's training center and will be the first such system in Central Asia.
The development of the simulator was entrusted to the Canadian company CAE, a recognized global leader in the creation of aviation simulator systems. This equipment will receive top-level certification (Level D), ensuring absolute accuracy in reproducing the cockpit, the functioning of all systems, and the flight characteristics of the aircraft.
With the launch of the simulator, Uzbekistan Airways will be able to conduct the full cycle of pilot training and retraining directly within the country, thereby raising the level of national aviation education. Previously, crews had to be sent abroad for this purpose, with the nearest similar complex located in Turkey.
The acquisition of this simulator is linked to a major agreement with the Boeing group for the supply of twenty-two Boeing 787-9 airliners, which are scheduled to start arriving in 2031.
The event holds symbolic significance as the project details were announced on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the national carrier's use of the Dreamliner line. The first Boeing 787-8 arrived in Tashkent on August 31, 2016, and in the summer of 2017, Uzbekistan Airways made its first non-stop flight with it to New York. The company's fleet currently includes six such aircraft.
The airline will announce later the exact dates for the simulator's delivery to Tashkent and the start of its operation.
