Tunisia issues heatwave warning amid heatwave

The National Institute of Meteorology of Tunisia (INM) announced on Wednesday a high level of danger due to intense heat across all regions of the country, with the exception of the western province of Kasserine, warning of extreme temperatures and sirocco until Thursday.

According to INM data, temperatures are expected to remain exceptionally high. In some areas, localized thunderstorms and precipitation are possible in the afternoon.

The institute warned that children, the elderly, citizens with chronic diseases, people taking regular medication, and those living alone are particularly vulnerable to extreme heat.

Residents were advised to drink water regularly throughout the day, even without feeling thirsty, and to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during peak heat hours, especially between noon and 4:00 PM.

Furthermore, INM advised protecting the head from direct sunlight and limiting strenuous physical activity while elevated temperatures persist.
