Despite an impressive opening at the box office, the film 'Toxic' starring Kannada superstar Yash faced a serious decline in revenue already on the second day after its premiere. After record figures on the first day, the film's collection sharply decreased, causing concern among the creators.
Thanks to Yash's popularity, the film achieved record earnings on its release day. However, negative audience reviews regarding the content led to a rapid fall in the collection graph the following day.
According to Sakalilk, in India, the film 'Toxic' collected a net income of ₹101.10 crore with 24,579 screenings on the first day. The total income in the country reached ₹120.75 crore, and globally, the film demonstrated an impressive total business of about ₹150 crore on the first day. Nevertheless, immediately after this triumph, the situation in box office collections changed drastically.
The film, which earned over 100 crore on the first day, faced public disinterest on the second day. The net collection for the second day was only ₹36.40 crore, representing a direct decrease of 64% compared to the ₹101.10 crore earned on the first day. Such a significant drop in revenue is considered extremely worrying for any major superstar film.
'Toxic' found itself in a situation reminiscent of Amir Khan's film 'Thugs of Hindostan'. Back then, 'Thugs of Hindostan' started with ₹52.25 crore and dropped to ₹29.25 crore on the second day. Similarly, 'Toxic' showed a great start in the Hindi industry, collecting ₹55 crore on Wednesday, but its revenue fell to just ₹23 crore on the second day.
This film, originally shot in Kannada and English, did not receive the expected recognition even in Yash's home region—Karnataka. On the second day, the film's performance in Kannada was significantly lower than that of Yash's previous blockbuster 'KGF Chapter 2'. While 'Toxic' earned only ₹8.50 crore in Kannada on the second day, 'KGF 2' brought in an impressive ₹16.80 crore.
This indicates that local audiences are also not entirely satisfied with the film's content. All attention is now focused on the upcoming weekend. Reports suggest that despite the festivals of Rakhi and the coming Saturday-Sunday, there might be a further decline in collections. If the figures do not improve within these three days, it may be difficult for the creators to recoup their costs, and the number of screenings will begin to decrease.
