GurdEEP Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of NTPC, announced on Thursday that the company is working on expanding its operational capacity to 244 GW. To achieve this, capital expenditure of nearly 17 lakh crore rupees is planned by 2037 to cover the entire energy value chain.
Over the past year, about 60% of the added capacity was sourced from non-fossil fuel sources. In the fiscal year 2026, NTPC generated 432 billion units of electricity, accounting for approximately 24% of India's total power generation.
