Tata Motors announced the implementation of a new client identity named 'Tata.cars' for its passenger vehicle division during a large-scale event. This change aims to give the traditional brand a modern appearance that has long been associated with reliability.
The new name 'Tata.cars' is not just a spelling change; it is intended to modernize the brand perception among consumers. Although the company retains its core identity, the new image will be reflected in all aspects of customer interaction, including dealerships, service centers, digital platforms, and marketing campaigns.
Tata Motors stated that vehicles will now be presented to customers under the name 'Tata.cars'. This transition will affect not only the name but also all processes related to dealership, servicing, digital channels, and promotion. Meanwhile, the legal and corporate structure of the company remains unchanged.
The company explained that in India, consumers have long used the colloquial term 'Tata cars' to refer to passenger vehicles, whether they are hatchbacks or SUVs. This is why the decision was made to officially adopt this widely known identification.
Shalesh Chandra, Managing Director of Passenger Vehicles and Electric Mobility at Tata Motors, noted that 'Tata.cars' represents an acknowledgment that the brand received this identity from India itself. He emphasized that the name Tata embodies the heritage, values, and trust accumulated over generations, while 'Tata.cars' gives the passenger vehicle business a modern and futuristic look.
The name 'Tata.cars' will be gradually integrated into the network of dealerships and showrooms. Furthermore, the new identity will appear in digital touchpoints, after-sales service, service operations, and market communications. In the coming months, the company will begin updating its dealerships with the new design.
The appearance and design of the showrooms will be changed, affecting both the exterior and the interior. Vivek Srivastava, Director of Commercial Affairs for Electric Mobility at Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, reported that along with this change, the company will introduce a new visual and sensory system developed based on the 'Parallel Pathway' design philosophy.
This new identity will utilize a special color, Ambition Blue. A new sound identity system will also be implemented so that the brand stands out not only visually but also audibly.
Despite using 'Tata.cars' before end consumers for the passenger vehicle business, this does not mean that the legal name Tata Motors Passenger Vehicle has changed. The official registered legal entity of the company will remain the same. For government and legal documents, regulatory reporting, production sites, official contracts, and regulatory filings, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicle will continue to be used.
Additionally, the company will continue to use 'Tata.ev' for its electric vehicle business.
