Dream11 transforms from fantasy sports company into global sports engagement platform

Dream11 announced on Thursday a change in its strategy: it is abandoning pure fantasy sports in favor of creating a worldwide platform for engaging with the world of sports.

Before the government imposed a complete ban on this category a year ago, Dream11 was the largest fantasy gaming company in India. In a statement, the company reported that it has completed the transition from fantasy sports to the role of a global sports platform.

As part of this transition, Dream11 has stopped issuing all prizes, focusing exclusively on sports content, including live broadcasts, statistics, results, commentary, communities, impressions, and social contests.

According to the statement, the platform will transition to an artificial intelligence-based model to offer users a highly personalized experience based solely on their favorite sports, leagues, teams, and players.

The platform will also be multi-sport, which will help fill a global gap and position the company as a single destination for fans worldwide.

The need for this pivot arose due to the government's adoption of the Online Gaming Promotion and Regulation Act in August 2025. This law established a nationwide ban on online games involving monetary stakes, which came into effect on October 1, 2025. The law prohibited online games associated with monetary stakes or deposits, regardless of whether they were based on skill, chance, or a combination thereof.

This led to the cessation of all paid fantasy sports offerings and other real-money gambling propositions, forcing companies like Dream11 to reorient towards other areas, such as free sports engagement and other business ventures.

Dream11 has consistently expanded its activities into new areas beyond fantasy sports. The company has also entered the brokerage market by launching DreamStreet, aimed at simplifying investing for users and increasing the penetration of demo accounts in the country.

The ban has seriously impacted Dream11's financial health: the company's revenue decreased to 7,374.4 crore rupees in fiscal year 25 compared to 8,345.9 crore rupees in fiscal year 24. Furthermore, the company moved into a loss of 478.9 crore rupees, whereas the previous year it recorded a profit of 1,295.3 crore rupees.

Seven Books Exploring the Interconnection Between Dreams and Reality

Dreams have captured humanity's attention for centuries because they blur the lines between what is imagined and what is experienced in life. Literature has long used dreams as a powerful tool to challenge the concept of reality and what exists only in consciousness.

Some works transport readers to surreal worlds where dreams influence reality, while others analyze how people assign meaning to their subconscious experiences. Through genres such as fantasy, psychological studies, magical realism, and philosophical narrative, these books prompt readers to rethink the nature of perception and the fine line separating fantasy and reality.

"The Interpretation of Dreams," often recognized as one of the most influential books on dreams, introduced Freud's theory that dreams are expressions of unconscious desires and conflicts. Freud argued that dreams contain symbolic meanings that reveal deeper truths about the dreamer, rather than being merely random mental events. This book changed people's understanding of the subconscious and continues to influence psychology, literature, and popular culture.

Lewis Carroll's classic novel tells the story of Alice's adventures in a strange and unpredictable world full of unusual characters and impossible events. Although the story unfolds like a dream, it often reflects the logic, anxieties, and curiosity of childhood reality. The novel's structure, reminiscent of a dream, forces readers to question notions of identity, time, and social norms; the absurdity of Wonderland often mirrors real human experience and behavior.

Neil Gaiman, in his unsettling novel, blends memory, fantasy, and reality, telling the story of a person who returns to their childhood home and recalls extraordinary events that shaped their life. As memories surface, the boundaries between dream, imagination, and reality become increasingly undefined. Gaiman explores how dreams and memories can intertwine, influencing a person's understanding of reality long after the events occurred.

Murakami's novel combines dreams, mysterious prophecies, talking cats, and parallel narratives, creating a world where reality is constantly shifting. Characters encounter seemingly impossible events that feel emotionally authentic and significant. The work demonstrates how dreams can serve as portals to deeper psychological truths, presenting them not as something separate from reality, but as interconnected dimensions shaping a person's personality and destiny.

This science fiction masterpiece focuses on George Orr, a man whose dreams literally alter reality. Every time he dreams, the world transforms according to the dream's content, often with unforeseen consequences. Le Guin uses this premise to examine questions of power, ethics, perception, and the very nature of existence, questioning whether reality is fixed or constantly shaped by human consciousness.

The psychological novella tells of a married doctor who plunges into a series of strange and disturbing experiences after learning about his wife's hidden fantasies. As the plot develops, readers remain uncertain about which events are real and which might be dream projections. Schnitzler examines desire, identity, and the subconscious, creating a narrative where dreams and reality constantly intersect. This work later inspired Stanley Kubrick's film "Inception" and remains an important exploration of psychological ambiguity.

A collection of essays inspired by the ideas of the film "Inception" examines philosophical questions about dreams, consciousness, and reality. The authors analyze the possibility of distinguishing genuine reality from convincing dream states. These essays draw material from philosophy, psychology, and neuroscience to explore how perception shapes human understanding. Readers interested in the intellectual side of dream study will appreciate the discussions on the limits of veracity and the nature of experience.

Stories about dreams remain captivating because they touch upon universal human questions: how reliable are our memories? Can imagination influence reality? Are our deepest fears and desires hidden within our dreams? These books approach such questions from different perspectives, yet all acknowledge that dreams are more than just nocturnal experiences.

Whether it is psychological analysis, fantastical adventure, philosophical quest, or surreal narrative, these works illustrate the constant interplay between dreams and reality. They remind readers that the human mind is capable of creating worlds that feel as meaningful and transformative as the physical one.
