An exhibition of graphic works selected from the museum collection has opened at the International Cultural Caravanserai in Uzbekistan. The exposition features 40 works by Uzbek and Japanese artists, executed in various techniques.
The exhibition began on August 26th at the International Cultural Caravanserai of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan. The Caravanserai's Sandbir Fund includes over 300 exhibits. The formation of this collection started in 2003 with handicrafts and sculptures donated by the Chinese embassy.
Currently, the fund houses samples of painting, graphics, decorative and applied arts, photography, and calligraphy related to the art of Uzbekistan and Japan.
The exhibition showcases works by artists such as Galina Li, Damir Urazayev, Gulzor Sultonova, Radik Azizov, Evgeny Pak, Boris Zhurkin, Galina Naumova, Asliddin Kalanov, Khurshid Ziyahanov, Gayane Matevosyan, Mustafa Rasulov, Sergey Chufarnov, and Muhiddin Risqiyev. The exposition also includes the work of Japanese graphic masters Yoshiko Saito, Fuki Jin, and Karasawa Takako.
A total of 40 pieces were created using autolithography, watercolor, pastel, and mixed media. The exhibition demonstrates the possibilities of contemporary graphic art by uniting diverse styles and artistic approaches.
It is noted that the ICMC fund is an important cultural space that unites diverse cultures and artistic traditions, and the works within it reflect the cultural dialogue between creators from Uzbekistan and Japan.
The collection is constantly being supplemented with new acquisitions and gifts. The fund also holds photo series by Japanese photographers Shota Nagase and Kanako Sato, as well as works by calligraphers Ishimaru Shinya and Yoshiasu Okada.
The exhibition will run until September 6, 2026.
