The Greater Noida Administration has made an important decision in the interests of farmers. Following government directives, the administration's board approved a proposal to raise the land compensation rate from 4,125 to 6,415 rupees per square meter. This represents a one-time increase of 2,290 rupees per square meter, which is approximately 55.5%.
Furthermore, the provision for providing 6% residential land plots has been reinstated. According to the administration, this provision, which was abolished in 2016, is now resumed.
Farmers who choose to forgo the 6% residential plot option will receive compensation at the rate of 6,415 rupees per square meter. Meanwhile, farmers accepting the 6% residential plot will receive compensation at the rate of 5,725 rupees per square meter. For farmers receiving residential plots, separate sectors will be created that will develop in the pattern of residential, industrial, and other developed zones.
The administration has provided a system for issuing a residential plot reservation certificate to farmers directly at the time of land registration. Regarding the history of compensation rate changes in Greater Noida, the rate was 3,500 rupees per square meter in 2014-2015; it increased to 3,750 rupees per square meter in 2022-2023; to 4,125 rupees per square meter in 2023-2024, and the rate of 6,415 rupees per square meter has been approved for 2026-2027.
The administration clarified that the rate was 3,500 rupees per square meter from 2014-2015 to 2021-2022. In 2022-2023, it was increased by 250 rupees, and in 2023-2024, by 375 rupees per square meter. Subsequently, a one-time increase of 2,290 rupees was approved for 2026-2027.
To simplify the land purchase process, a Green Cell for land acquisition has been mandated under the chairmanship of the ACEO. This cell will assist farmers in completing the land purchase procedure so they do not have to visit various offices. Additionally, the entire compensation amount will be transparently transferred directly to the farmers' bank accounts. The minimum area for a residential plot is set at 40 square meters, and the maximum is 2,500 square meters. Compensation will also be paid separately for trees and other assets on the land. Farmers whose land borders main roads will be given priority in the allocation of residential plots.
Local MP Dhirendra Singh welcomed the decision to increase compensation. He noted that raising the rate from 4,125 to over 6,400 rupees is recognition of the contribution of farmers. He emphasized that regional development must continue, and farmers must participate in this development and the associated economic prosperity.
