Negotiations for Barkola's transfer from PSG to Liverpool are progressing, according to a source

Sources close to the negotiations reported on Thursday that the transfer discussions between Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain regarding Bradley Barkola's move to Anfield 'are on the right track.'

According to numerous media reports, the French winger has already agreed on personal contract terms with Liverpool. It was also learned that the two clubs have reached an agreement on the transfer fee, which could reach 140 million euros (120 million pounds sterling).

If the deal goes through, Barkola will become Liverpool's second most expensive acquisition after Alexander Isak, as well as the most expensive Ligue 1 player purchase in the club's history.

At the time of the transfer speculation, Barkola had not yet played for PSG this season. Liverpool has been looking to strengthen its flanks since the departure of club legend Mohamed Salah at the end of last season. In the current transfer window, they have already signed Spanish winger Victor Muñoz from Osasuna.

Barkola is seen as a key acquisition for the new manager of the Reds, Anđoni Iraola. The 23-year-old footballer scored three goals for the French national team during their participation in the recent World Cup semi-final.

Despite not always being the main player at PSG, as he had to compete with Ousmane Dembélé, Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Désiré Doué, Barkola played an important role in helping the club win two consecutive Champions League titles as captain. Since his move from Lyon in 2023, he has also won three Ligue 1 titles and two French Cups with PSG, scoring 39 goals in 152 matches.

Liverpool is trying to restore its former level after a disappointing season last year, when defending the Premier League title ended with a fifth-place finish, leading to the dismissal of manager Arne Slot. In the season's opening match last week, they managed a 2-2 draw against Newcastle.

Luis Enrique's team at PSG has been actively involved in the transfer market, selling Gonzalo Ramos, Randal Kolo Muani, and Lee Kang-in, while strengthening with Magnes Akliouche, Ferran Torres, and Lucas Digne.
