The Kremlin announced its readiness to continue negotiations on the situation in Ukraine. At the same time, working contacts between Moscow and Washington are maintained.
According to information released by Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov to journalists in Tashkent on August 27, Russia is ready to resolve the conflict in Ukraine peacefully, but there is no clear plan yet for the next meeting of representatives from Russia, the USA, and Ukraine.
Peskov emphasized that Russia is open to continuing peace talks and also noted that working ties between Moscow and Washington are being maintained. He stated that Russia prefers to achieve its goals through peaceful means; otherwise, the special military operation will continue.
The Kremlin representative also commented on the initiative to use frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine. Peskov called such actions illegal and warned of possible legal consequences. This initiative is being promoted by countries such as Sweden, the Netherlands, Spain, and Poland.
Furthermore, Peskov rejected reports of Russia having military plans against NATO, asserting that such information is untrue and does not reflect Russia's intentions. He added that Moscow faces aggressive policies from European states.
Earlier, Peskov mentioned that contacts between Russian and US intelligence services continue even during the most difficult periods of bilateral relations. He described these meetings, which took place during the visit of CIA Director John Ratcliffe to Moscow, as a positive process.
Also in a comment provided by Peskov to Bloomberg, it was said that attempts by Ukraine to damage Russian economic and trade infrastructure will lead to a 'strong response' from Moscow.
Earlier, Kyiv administration chief Kirill Budanov stated the desire to resume discussions on resolving the crisis in Ukraine.
