Russian archaeologists conducted excavations in Staraya Russa and discovered an unusual burial. During the work in the pre-Mongol necropolis, a grave containing the remains of a woman was found.
According to information presented by researchers on the portal of Novgorod State University, this burial dates back to the late 12th or early 13th century. The woman was buried with ornaments that have features characteristic of Finno-Ugric peoples.
Russian archaeologists have presented information about recent discoveries made at the ancient Russian burial ground of Gnezdilovo, located in the Suzdal Uplands. Several burials were found during this year's work, one of which is a chamber burial dated to the 10th century AD.
It is assumed that the remains in this burial belonged to a man from the upper class of that era. This significant discovery was made public by the Institute of Archaeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, which posted the relevant information on its official website.
