According to the Passenger Transport JSC announcement, starting October 1st, a special carriage exclusively for women will be introduced on international train No. 1/2 operating between Almaty and Tashkent.
Tickets for this specialized carriage will only be sold to female passengers, and onboard service will be provided exclusively by female conductors. Children under seven years old can also travel in this carriage if accompanied by an adult. Tickets can be purchased at station ticket offices or online through the carrier's platforms; seats in the women's section will be marked with the code 'ZH' (Female). Ticket sales open 45 days before the departure date.
Train No. 1/2 runs daily. Departure from Almaty is scheduled for 19:05, and arrival in Tashkent will be the next day at 12:53. The return trip departs from Tashkent at 14:41 and arrives in Almaty at 08:51.
Reasons for introducing the carriage
Anuar Akhmetzhanov, Chairman of the Board of Passenger Transport JSC, noted that the decision to add a women-only carriage on the international route was made to meet growing demand and accommodate the increasing passenger flow.
According to the company, since the launch of the service on domestic railway routes in Kazakhstan, women have used women-only carriages over 946,000 times. Adding the service on the Almaty–Tashkent route will expand the network of women's carriage offerings to 14 routes, marking the first instance of expanding this service to international rail transport between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
