The experienced batter from the United Arab Emirates, Asif Khan, has been suspended for 15 months after admitting guilt to a doping violation. Methandienone, a metabolite of the banned substance Methyltestosterone, was found in Asif's sample.
He accepted the penalty in accordance with the agreement with WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) and the ICC (International Cricket Council), violating the ICC Anti-Doping Code. The sample was taken during a doping test conducted on September 8, 2025. The sanction took effect from this date and will last until December 7, 2026.
Asif Khan will be allowed to train with the team starting October 8, 2026, and he can use club facilities or any affiliated ICC organization. However, this does not mean he can immediately return to play; his return to official competitions is only possible from December 8, 2026.
The consequences of this case affect not only future matches. According to the ICC Anti-Doping Code, Asif's results from the period between September 8, 2025, and December 29, 2025, have also been annulled. Medals, points, prize money, and other personal awards associated with his performances during this period may be revoked. The interim suspension was set for December 29, 2025.
