A team of scientists has completed a comprehensive study of the remains that archaeologists discovered several years ago in Poland and named the so-called 'vampire'. The analysis revealed that the skeleton belonged to a young woman from a wealthy family.
It is presumed that this burial took place around the mid-17th century. Genetic testing allowed researchers to conclude the origin of the maternal ancestors: they may have had roots in Scandinavia, despite the fact that the girl herself was likely born in Poland.
These results were reported in the scientific journal Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports.
