Starting from the 2026/2027 academic year, morning classes at higher education institutions located in Tashkent will begin at 8:00. This information was provided by the press service of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan.
According to the official announcement, this decision was made with the aim of optimizing the educational process and reducing traffic congestion in the city.
Previously, the capital's hokimiyat initiated a survey regarding the transition of city and district administrations, as well as their subordinate structures, to a working schedule from 8:00 to 17:00.
It is worth noting that changes were already introduced to the class schedule in January 2023 at 31 universities located near metro stations. At that time, classes started at 8:00 in five educational institutions, at 8:30 in one, and the rest started at 9:30. The main goal then was to relieve pressure on the metro lines.
